Do you often feel as though there are presences around you when you're all alone? Do you sometimes feel spied on when you're alone in your room? Do you have the impression of being unlucky or having repeated spiritual battles in your life? Some of your battles may not have started with you, but are rooted in your family history and have been passed down through your lineage from generation to generation. Thus, these inclinations towards fear, anger, abandonment, suicide, etc., can be generational.

People often think they're being tested by ELOHIM. Yet familiar spirits may actually be the source of the problems people face. Involvement with familiar spirits constitutes idolatry. It creates spiritual filth that could prevent you from becoming all that ELOHIM wants you to be. In reality, those who enter into covenants with familiar spirits are on their way to eternal destruction.

• Isaiah 65:3-5 "to a people who continually provoke Me to My face, sacrificing in the gardens and burning incense on altars of brick, sitting among the graves, spending nights in secret places, eating the meat of pigs and polluted broth from their bowls. They say, ‘Keep to yourself; do not come near me, for I am holier than you!’ Such people are smoke in My nostrils, a fire that burns all day long."

Familiar spirits are supernatural entities that are counterfeits of the work of the Holy Spirit, and whom you may have inherited from your forefathers. In most cases, they have been invited into the family by your ancestors to render certain services. They form strong bonds with their hosts, and later request certain terms and conditions as they claim legal possession of the family. At the end of their working life, they demand sacrifices for new contracts or destroy their hosts. They are gateways into your homes and surveillance spirits who operate in the shadows and follow you around. Using subtlety, they create the same problems.

Necromancy 

Communicating with the dead. When a necromancer supposedly contacts a dead person, the familiar spirit of the deceased is able to imitate the voice of the departed, provide relevant information, or produce manifestations that lead the necromancer to believe he or she has truly contacted the deceased.

Transcendental meditation 

Meditation accompanied by trance techniques and the chanting of a mantra. The individual empties themselves of any identity and willpower, opening themselves up to deceptive spirits who masquerade as the Holy Spirit and disclose false revelations of hidden secrets and mysteries.

Opening the pineal gland or 3rd eye 

This is a very dangerous practice that gives access to the spirit world. It enables one to see, feel and hear spiritual entities around them, and to make astral projections. Opening the third eye can lead to madness and insanity.

​

Totems 

These are symbols that represent the familiar spirit within a clan, tribe or village. The people of such a clan believe they bare a royal blessing and are in contact with benevolent spiritual entities. They worship, honor and occasionally make sacrifices to the familiar spirit. Often, they are forbidden to touch, eat or kill the animal that symbolizes the familiar spirit.

Divination 

Consulting mediums, sorcerers, voodoo priests, shamans and occultists disguised as pastors or priests in churches.

We have the example of the woman Paul met in Macedonia. She had a familiar spirit that gave her powers of divination.

• Acts 16:16-17 "One day as we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl with a spirit of divination, who earned a large income for her masters by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation!”

King Saul, after driving all the sorcerers out of the city, still sought help from a woman who had a familiar spirit, and because he resorted to the help from the witch of Endor, he was destroyed.

• 1 Samuel 28: 7-25 "Then Saul said to his servants, “Find me a woman who is a medium, so I can go and consult her.” “There is a medium at Endor,” his servants replied..."

• 1 Chronicles 10:13 "So Saul died for his unfaithfulness to the LORD, because he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance"

Drugs and alcohol 

Modify brain cell function. The effects induced by hallucinogenic substances enable contact with familiar spirits, and make one susceptible to receiving infinite revelations from the demonic world.

Promiscuity 

Those who have intimate relations with several partners often carry within themselves familiar spirits of lust, such as the demons succubi and incubi, which they can pass on to their partners.

• Hosea 4:12 "For a spirit of prostitution leads them astray and they have played the harlot against their God."

The music 

Many songs are inspired by the demonic world and carry subliminal messages in reverse. The purpose of these messages is to invoke spirits that will manifest and affect your emotions after listening to the song: suicidal desires, murder, fornication, etc.

Some children's toys and video games 

Are often filled with fictional characters representing demons that exist in the spiritual world. They can manifest themselves to the child, who may befriend the familiar spirit thinking he has an invisible friend or that his hero or idol has paid him a visit.

Horror films 

Send back images that desensitize you to the death of human beings, and introduce you to the occult. Many demonic entities that can manifest themselves in your life are regularly evoked in horror movies.

Major emotional trauma 

When a person undergoes an emotional trauma or a devastating situation such as the loss of a family member, a job, a home, sexual, spiritual or verbal violence, he or she becomes susceptible to the operations of familiar spirits as they come to seduce under the disguise of sympathy, and make suggestions such as committing suicide or murder, joining cults, consulting necromancers and so on.

You can only definitively cast out a familiar spirit by fasting and praying in the name of YESHUA (and no other name). Get into the habit of playing psalms or Bible verses while you sleep to ward off such spirits.
