The Ankh or the key to ancient Egypt
In ancient Egypt, the mysterious cross of the Ankh is a combination of masculine and feminine principles. The Yang (the vertical bar is the male energy); the Yin (the horizontal line is the passive female energy). Yin and Yang or more precisely the union of Osiris (man) and Isis (woman) represents the union of Heaven and Earth, the union of life and death. In other words, the cross of the Ankh is a symbol of human existence whose crossroads are the nucleus, the essence of the human spirit, the point of origin, the beginning, the genesis.
The cross of the Ankh was an essential element of the gods and the pharaohs, the Egyptians engraved it on their amulets in order to prolong their life on earth. They also buried it with their dead to ensure a continuation of life in another realm because they were convinced that the key that opened the doors of heaven looked exactly like this cross.
In Babylon, the Ankh was a symbol of heaven and immortality.
In esoteric traditions, this cross acted as a key to divine secret knowledge, hidden wisdom, power and supremacy. Those who are initiated into the world of mysticism must pass various tests while holding the ankh above their heads in order to dispel negative energies. Occultists believe that the cross of the Ankh enables the elevation of the human to the superhuman.
